The first few days after surgery, I'll be eating ("eating") liquids and clear broths.
From Day 3 or 4 until day 14, I need to eat pureed proteins -- each serving about the size of an ice cube.
So Saturday was "cook tons of turkey and chicken with different seasonings, puree and freeze" day. EJ and I went to Target, bought some sugar free snacks like Jell-O, broth, etc. and went up to the parents house with the dogs for a couple hours of cooking and blending.
EJ was the cook (and a sexy one at that). I did the pureeing and Mom did the ice cube freezing. Ever seen freshly cooked chicken breasts pureed and frozen?
First he made chicken with garlic and white wine sauce. Next was Italian chicken. Then he switched it up with curry chicken (yum). And finally, thin turkey cutlets with steak seasoning. The food all smelled and looked delicious, I am sooo glad we can use seasonings. But..then I had to put it all in the food processor. Nasty.
We poured the food into ice cube trays and froze them. Now when I want to eat after the surgery, I can just defrost a cube and that's the meal. Yum.
Pictures from the fun-filled day are here.
(Taken with my phone so sorry about the quality.)
