Food, what food?

Feeling kind of cranky today.

Yesterday I went to my general doctor for my overall medical clearance. She said I'm extremely healthy for my weight. Perfect blood pressure, perfect temp, no chronic issues like diabetes or high cholesterol. I explained to her how I eat healthy, and have for a long time. She wasn't surprised. She said in her experience, a lot of people who are obese have much better eating habits than other people. Shitty.

They drew about 5 huge vials of blood and I was fasting so that was fun. Lol. Then I went to Signet Imaging for a chest x-ray for the pulmonologist. I still have to get my pulmonolgy and cardiology clearances before I can get the surgery - appts are scheduled next week for both. Cross your fingers.

One of the blood tests was an H. Pylori test, which is the bacteria that causes high acid production in the stomach and possible ulcers. It sucked because if I'm positive for this bacteria, I need 2 weeks of heavy-dose antibiotics and acid pump inhibitor medication. And my surgery was exactly 2 weeks from yesterday...since I do have history of ulcers, the doc decided to put me on the medications, anticipating that I'll be H. Pylori positive. So last night I started really hardcore antibiotics, which is crappy because I don't feel sick. And they make my tummy hurt. But gotta do what you gotta do right?

Oh, speaking of tummys. Starting yesterday, I had to start a meal-replacement shake diet. I'm drinking 5 8oz servings of Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added) every day. I am allowed one "real" meal which is "lean and green". Meaning I can have a 7oz serving of protein (last night was steak..yum) and some lettuce / greens. Woot. So the next two weeks will be hard, just a lot of drinking these shakes and eating meat which isn't my favorite. But I knew what I was getting into. It will all be worth it.
