One of the most important things they tell us at all the meetings is: exercise. The surgery is a tool, but you have to exercise and eat right for it to be an effective one.
When I was younger, I was a tomboy. I loved sports. I played on softball and baseball teams (sometimes as the only girl). I had a basketball hoop outside my house, which I regularly played against my Dad on. And in school, I looked forward to gym to play floor hockey (up through high school).
I don't know when or why my activities stopped. I am guessing around college time, when friends and school were more important to me. It wouldn't surprise me if this was a primary cause for my weight gain (I attribute the rest to plain genetics -- I've always eaten extremely healthy).
I plan on going to a gym and getting a trainer in the next few weeks, but until then, I have Wii Fit. Today I worked out with it for the first time since before surgery. I mean a real workout. I did the advanced step four times (= 20 minutes of aerobics/ cardio), and then an intermediate boxing workout (about 10 min). I was going toward a goal of 45 minutes, but I stopped after 30 because I don't want to push too hard.
Well, I feel great after doing it. My legs and arms are just the right amount of sore, and the shower after was amazing and cold. I need to make sure I stay with this routine at least until the 6-8 week period is up and I can go to a gym.
Does anyone in the S. Florida area want to be gym buddies with EJ and I? I want soemone to kick my ass.
I looked in the mirror tonight and my face looks a lot thinner than it has in awhile. It felt good.

You could move here and go to the gym with Ryan and I.
I so wish you weren't so far away... I'd take you up on the exercise/gym buddy offer in a heart beat.
I have DDR, but no Wii Fit. I think the Fit would help me get motivated... DDR scares me a little bit. I'm always afraid I'm going to slide around and break my head open.
Wah. Wish I could exercise with you...
i wish i lived there .. i would be ur gym buddie...or bunny- either works.
