So, I've been venturing away (slowly) from broth for my meals, and trying pureed "texturized" protein. Still only 1/8 cup per serving so it doesn't feel like a "meal"...but it's progress.
Last night we pureed 2 shrimp from the leftover "Shrimp and snow pea" Chinese food dish of my Dads. It was bland, tasteless, stringy. Seasoning did not help it much, but it was a good test. It stayed down, so I was happy.
Today we heated up one of the "Chicken and white wine" cubes on the stovetop. We had tried the microwave a few days ago, and that was lumpy and awful. On the stovetop it boiled down to a grits consistency. I just ate it in maybe 5 slow bites. Not too satisfying. I'm unsure if it's unsatisfying because it doesn't taste that good, or if it's the fact that I'm sick of the all-liquid diet. I miss chewing. Mom had half a Subway today and I almost drooled.
Tomorrow, I am going to my surgeon for my 1-week post-op appointment (today is my 1 week anniversary!). He will weigh me, so that will be interesting, and take out my stitches.
I'm not nervous about the stitches except for the ones right ontop of my sore/bruised area on the left side of my stomach. I don't want him touching it. I will cry.
Here is a sexy photo showing what I mean.

I am not gonna lie to you dude- getting stitches taken out can hurt at times during the process- its all about the "thread" not being crusted to your wound. Want to know a trick (only works if your wound is allowed to get wet)
Take a sterile gauze pad and wet it with warm water and put it on your stitches/wound for 15-20 min right before u get in the car to goto dr- let it moisten any crusties that may have formed(dont be fooled if you see no crusties- they form right at and under the surface and rear their ugly head when the dr goes to pull out the stitch!)
That helps a bunch.
ORRRR I just thought of another way!
Take a long shower before you go.
HA! Stoner me.
Hang in there darebear - you are doing fantastic!! I am so proud of you!!
xoxo
